Definition
Période de travail très intense juste avant un rendu, souvent avec des nuits courtes. « Être en charrette » : être pris par ce rush.
The final rush of intense work before a submission deadline, often with very little sleep.

Nuances and pitfalls
False friend (strong). In American English, charrette means a collaborative design workshop, sometimes lasting several days: almost the opposite of the French meaning.
Register. Informal, spoken. Avoid in a letter to a client.
