Dessin technique d'un bâtiment vu de dessus, comme s'il était coupé horizontalement à environ un mètre du sol, pour montrer les murs, les ouvertures et les pièces.

Nuances and pitfalls
Several meanings. Here, plan is a drawing. It also means a flat surface (plan de la façade) or an organisation (un plan pour tenir le planning): see plan (surface) and plan (organisation).
Different kinds of plans. A plan de masse shows the building on its plot (site plan); a plan de situation places it in the town (location plan).
“Blueprint”. In everyday English, especially American, blueprint means the plans of a building. Among professionals, plans or drawings (UK) are more usual.
