Nuances and pitfalls
Maître d'œuvre (n. m.) or architect? Not every architect is a maître d'œuvre: the architect may have a design-only mission, and site supervision may go to another maître d'œuvre. The maîtrise d'œuvre (n. m.) is often a team (architect and consultants).
Feminine or masculine? In speech, people say “la MOE” for the team and the mission, “le MOE” for the person or the firm.
